DSi NAND Archive
The DSi NAND Archive is a collection of 100+ DSi NAND backups. To put it simply, NANDs can be thought of like the hard drive in your computer. Each backup contains the firmware, installed software, and various per-unit configuration files.
The archive serves as a reference for repairs, writing software, or simply provides backups for testing. For example, I will collect backups from corrupted DSis. The bad DSis can be used to show how an error occurs, what it looks like, and provides information on how common specific errors are. How common errors are is especially important because it helps narrow down possibilities when giving technical support, and shows what issues need more research and attention.
The archive is also used for digital preservation purposes. There are many different DSi firmware versions which have not been publicly sorted or archived. Every new NAND submitted gets processed, and the firmware gets synced my firmware archive. The preservation efforts also extend to collecting lists of factory tools for rmc, and searching prototype or development DSis for deleted data. Multiple one of a kind prototypes have been recovered thanks to the NAND contributors.
Users can only access the full archive by emailing me (backups can contain personal data), but I still publicly provide the keys and info for each DSi. The keys can be used to recreate a near perfect replica of the backup, minus anything personal.
